Founder + Birth Connoisseur

Hi! I'm Jhenielle and I'm a birth doula, Evidenced Based Birth® Instructor, and Integrative Feeding and Lactation Specialist serving expectant families in northern New Jersey. I was drawn to birthwork after living in Argentina and having the opportunity to work with a team of midwives and obstetricians in a rural province to learn more about birth practices in Argentina, and the concept of parto humanizado which translates to humanized birth, and is a concept that centers the needs of the birth giver during labor and childbirth. My approach to birthwork is an evidence-based approach. I like to provide clients with evidence based information to help them make an informed decision about their care. I also take a holistic approach to birthwork and prioritize connecting my clients with other perinatal professionals that can support them during pregnancy and postpartum, because it truly takes a village. During labor you can expect me to be your cheerleader, shoulder to lean on, double hip squeeze giver and holder of space while you ride the waves of birth.

I’ve completed doula trainings through Ancient Song Doula Services and DONA International, am certified through DONA International, and am a Professional Member of Evidence Based Birth ®. I am also a registered yoga instructor. As a doula, I aim to ensure that my clients feel informed, supported, emboldened, and prepared as they ready themselves to welcome new life into the world.

I earned my undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in Global Studies, with a focus on Global Health in Latin America, as well as Medical Anthropology and Spanish for the Health Professions. I am a third culture kid and consider myself to be a true global citizen, having taken my first flight when I was only two weeks old and lived in four countries on 3 different continents. Before founding BloomMama Birth Services, I spent the start of my career to working in education philanthropy and increasing college access for high school students nationwide. When I am not attending a birth or teaching a class, you can find me hiking, listening to an audiobook, or playing my new video game obsession, Stardew Valley.

My Philosophy as a Doula

I believe that….

  • birth is sacred

  • you have everything you need within you

  • every birthing person deserves access to a doula, regardless of how or where you’ll give birth

  • this is your birth. I’m here to make you feel supported and to make sure that your wishes are heard, valued, and respected

  • everyone should have access to evidence based information about their birth options

  • a positive birth outcome is more than just “healthy mom, healthy baby” — it’s influenced by how you feel about your overall birth experience including whether you felt listened to and respected

Working with me you will feel:

  • affirmed

  • heard

  • respected

  • cared for

  • informed

  • prepared for your big day!
